Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the sops announced by TRS Government to various sections in the budget for 2017-18 clearly indicate that the State was heading for mid-terms polls in 2018.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that TRS Government tried to lure some sections of Backward Classes by offering various sops only to hide its failure to implement 12% quota for STs and Muslims, three acres of land for Dalit families and other major promises. Raising serious doubts over the implementation of various sops announced in the budget, he said that the TRS Government has become habitual of making fake promises even in budget speeches.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that it was highly regrettable that Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao was not even aware on who finalises the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). He said that the States provide the figures to the Centre and in turn, the Central Government decides the GSDPs. However, he accused the TRS Government of providing wrong statistics to the Centre. Quoting figures from the website of Comptroller General and Auditor of India (CAG), he said that the CAG has nailed the lies of TRS Government on Telangana's financial position. He said that the State Government has manipulated figures to cheat the people of Telangana and create a hype of development.
The TPCC Chief also disputed the figures furnished in the Socio Economic Survey and asked whether or not the agriculture production in Telangana have decreased after TRS Government took over. Ridiculing the claims on Telangana being on top in 'Ease of Doing Business', he said that the Telangana has been consistently on sixth place in the country in attracting investments. He alleged that Industries Minister K. Tarakarama Rao was getting various awards by paying money. He said that the TRS Government has failed to produce even a single unit of power from the projects which it initiated after coming to power.
Uttam Kumar Reddy questioned the government for not providing promised house sites to journalists. He said that the Chief Minister himself has given several assurances to the journalists in Adilabad and Warangal districts. But none of them has been fulfilled so far. He said that the Health Cards issued by the State Government were not being accepted by any private/corporate hospitals. He also questioned the government on the status of assurances given to lawyers.
The TPCC Chief said that the Telangana has become number one in sale of liquor and also in illegal defections of elected representatives. He said that KCR has been maintaining dominance by luring leaders of other opposition parties into TRS. He said that the Congress party has a right to question the government for pushing Telangana into a debt trap.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also condemned KTR for his remarks on AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi. He said that KTR does not have the stature to speak anything on Rahul Gandhi. While Nehru-Gandhi family has made several sacrifices for the country, KTR directly came from the USA to enjoy power.
He said that the Congress party was ready to face elections whenever they are held.
