Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram on Thursday claimed that the JAC was successful in highlight the issue of unemployment in Telangana State.
Speaking to media persons after chairing TJAC Steering Committee meeting here, Kodandaram said that although State Government used all means to foil the rally and arrested more than 5,000 people, the TJAC's aim to highlight the unemployment crisis in the State got required attention. He said that the TJAC's intention of holding the rally was to pressurise the government to expedite the process of filling up of vacancies in various departments. He thanked media for highlighting the issue in a highly appropriate manner.
Kodandaram said that hundreds of activists, including students, tried to take out the rally despite unprecedented restrictions by the police force. He said that the activists made an attempt to take out the rally despite knowing the fact that they would be arrested by the police. He said that the rally has strengthened the TJAC's support-based and several people including Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav called him over telephone announcing their complete support.
He announced that the TJAC would continue agitation against unemployment. Further, he said that the TJAC would also launch movements to get justice for the oustsees of various projects, implementation of recommendations of Sudhir Commission and other issues. He said effective representation would be made with the legislators of all political parties requesting them to raise the issues of public importance in forthcoming budget session of State Legislative Assembly and Council.
