Hyderabad, Jan 25: Demanding cancellation of coal excavation tenders at Tadicherla mines, the Communist Party of India workers led by its State secretary K. Narayana staged a dharna in front of the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation company (APGenco) office at Somajiguda here on Monday. The CPI workers urged the Government to entrust coal exploration work to Singareni Collieries.
``Coal excavation should have been entrusted to APGenco on nomination basis but tender stipulation to deposit Rs.300 crore was intended to ward it off,’’ the CPI leader alleged. The CPI secretary made a scathing attack on leaders of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra and regretted that the leaders were blaming Maoists for the Telangana stir. With CPI workers turning out in large numbers, tension began to build up on the Genco premises. Consequently, a large number of police forces were deployed to bring the situation under control.
