Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Shabbir Ali on Saturday said that the Centre’s decision of demonetization failed to achieve its goals and that the entire exercise was a futile and only gave severe hardships to the common people.
Speaking on the note ban decision in the Council, Shabbir Ali said that it would be unfair if the government discusses the consequences of demonetization in the state, even without discussing the Centre’s note ban decision. He said that at first the people supported the Centre’s move after PM said that it would help in fighting terrorism and ending corruption and black money in the country. He said that the country has witnessed steep rise in corruption activities. He said that the people are facing severe hardships due to cash shortage. He said that the Centre failed miserably in tackling the issues assigning post demonetization and left the poor, the farmers of the country in the lurch. He said that the Centre failed in achieving the goals it claimed to achieve through note ban. He also criticized the Centre saying that it was now trying to impose restriction on possessing gold.
