Hyderabad, Jan 21: The Telangana issue was not only confined to politics, it also crept into the sports arena. Telangana supporters on Thursday tried to disrupt the T-20 match between Andhra and Hyderabad being played at Uppal Stadium here.About 200 Telangana activists who raised slogans asking ``Andhra players to go back’’ tried to disrupt the T-20 match.
The police rushed to the spot to take control of the situation. In the process, some arrests were made.After an assurance from the Deputy Commissioner of police, the players resumed the match under police supervision.The protestors said they were opposed to the the presence of the Andhra team in Hyderabad.The match was part of the tournament for the Deccan T20 Cup.
