Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at Transport Bhavan, New Delhi on Monday and discussed with him various issues pertaining to highways and dry port. Ministers Tummala Nageshwar Rao, K. Tarakarama Rao and party MPs accompanied the Chief Minister.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, R&B Minister Tummala said that the Chief Minister had requested the Union Minister to assure in principle the works to be taken up for laying four-lane national highways and other projects. He said that the State Government has submitted detailed project reports (DPRs)to the Centre for various projects and is awaiting the Centre’s aid for taking up these projects. He said that the CM has also taken up the issue of dry port with the Union Minister.
Nageshwar Rao said that the Chief Minister has urged the Union Minister to take up the issue of land acquisition with Defence ministry for road widening from Paradise Circle to Bowenpally in Secundrabad. The CM also urged the Centre to take up road laying works in naxal hit areas in the Centre at the earliest.
The R&B minister said that the state government has urged the Centre to felicitate the land acquisition for various road works like road widening for highways passing through rural areas. The minister said that Union Minister Gadkari had assured the state of all help and promised to take up the pending projects at the earliest.
In a related development a delegation led by KTR met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and sought Centre’s help for various projects in the state. Sources said that the minister has sought funds for the road works to be taken up in Hyderabad. Tummala, MP Vinod Kumar and others accompanied KTR.
