MLA and senior Congress leader D.K. Aruna on Friday said that the Centre’s move to demonetize Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes has hit the poor very hard pushing them to severe inconvenience.
With the demonetization move, the BJP is trying to gain political mileage in the election bound state by projecting itself as a crusader against the black money. The Centre’s move is only troubling the poor and the middle class and it has no impact on black money holders, Aruna said.
Speaking to media persons here, the Congress leader said that it was unfortunate that the BJP leaders were saying that the demonetization drive is not having any impact on the poor. At a time when the entire population is standing in queues in banks and ATMs the BJP leaders were trying to say that there is no impact on the poor. Stating that the Centre’s move was ‘surgical strike’ on the poor, Aruna said that the poor and the farmers in the country have been crippled to the Centre’s illogical initiative.
The Congress leader accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao saying that the TRS chief was meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi only to convert the black money to white. She warned that the state government was trying to take the advantage of the Centre’s demonetization drive to stall welfare schemes of the state government which are already in doldrums. She accused the TRS chief of entering into a secret pact with the Centre on the issue.
