The Congress party has ridiculed Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao for praising the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) Minorities Department Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail said that KTR's statement praising MIM leadership is highly ridiculous and misleading. "KTR himself is a non-performing minister of an idle government. His statement describing MIM as an active political party only reflects his ignorance about the problems being faced by the people of Old City of Hyderabad," he said.
Abdullah Sohail said by praising MIM, KTR has indirectly thanked Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and his party MLAs for keeping mum on the bad condition of civic amenities in the city. "MIM leaders remained confined to Darulsalaam and did not venture out to check the condition of roads after recent heavy rains. They were not seen when several low-lying areas in the constituencies they represent got submerged. Several localities and roads in the Old City turned into pools due to overflowing drains. Despite being the second largest party in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), MIM did not held a single protest. With their silence on the failures of State Government, MIM expressed their loyalty to TRS and in turn, they received praises from KTR. Both are working as each other's brand ambassadors," he said.
The Congress leader said while Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was busy praising BJP Government, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his son KTR was emulating him by praising 'mini-BJP' (MIM). The TRS-BJP-MIM trio is implementing the common agenda of cheating the common people. He said KTR should do a serious introspection of his own performance as the Municipal Administration Minister before praising others. "KTR's 100 Days Action Plan remained a non-starter. As against the big plans of turning Hyderabad into a global city, TRS Government has converted the city into a big mess. They could not even maintain the infrastructure created by previous Congress Government. But in order to divert people's attention from the failures, KTR is coming up with a new statement every day. Latest among them is praise for MIM and its leadership," he said.
Abdullah Sohail said KTR was also happy with the MIM for not raising any objection to the ongoing demolition drive. In the name of illegal constructions on nalas, the State Government has demolished the temporary houses and shops of hundreds of poor citizens. He said that demolitions were carried out in selective areas at the instance of realtors and local MIM and TRS leaders. All demolitions were carried out in slums and not a single structure in posh, but illegal colonies was touched. To cover up these activities, both TRS and MIM leaders are acting like each other's spokespersons, he said.
He said instead of praising the MIM, KTR should personally visit the rain-affected areas of Old City to learn the truth. However, he said when KTR is unable to visit his own constituency Sircilla, it is wrong to expect his visit to the Old City.
Abdullah Sohail said that the Congress party would expose the failures of both TRS and MIM. "We will directly approach the citizens and ask them whether they were satisfied with the performance of TRS and its ally MIM," he said.
