Hyderabad, Jan 16: In a bid to revive the fading Telangana agitation, the leaders of Joint Action Committee spearheading the Telangana movement started relay fasts at Indira Park here on Saturday.Twenty one leaders representing various political parties assembled at Indira Park here on Saturday to carry on the relay fasts.Senior Congress leader and former Minister Damodar Reddy, speaking to the media said he is hopeful that the Centre will come out with a decision by Jan 28.
`` Resigning from our posts is the only way to bring pressure on the Centre to make a clear statement on Telangana. We will try to convince the leaders of Telangana region about the necessity of resigning from their posts,’’ the former minister added.Nagam Janardhan Reddy a senior Telugu Desam Party leader said the Centre should stand by its word on Telangana. ``The Centre should spell out its stand on Telangana. The people of Telangana have waited patiently till now.
Don’t try to test patience of Telangana people,’’ he added.Telangna Rashtra Samiti MLA E Rajender said `` if the Centre does not yield to the decision of separate Telangana by Jan 28 then there will be more violence in the state.’’Kodandaram, convener of the JAC said the relay fasts will continue till Jan 28.Others who were present at Indira Park included Venugopalachary and Devender Goud of TDP.
