Upping the ante over its demand for a separate Telangana statehood, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has a new wave of agitations designed to mount pressure on the state and the Centre to expedite the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.Speaking to media persons on Tuesday, TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao announced that his party would begin to stage dharnas at the Office of Assembly Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy on Jan 18 to force him to accept the resignations of all the legislators from Telangana region who had handed in their papers over the separate statehood issue.
Apart from these dharnas, KCR announced his decision to tour all the districts of Telangana region to garner the support of the people.KCR said he apprised the party politburo members of his meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other senior leaders in New Delhi. He said the politburo appealed to Telangana youth not to resort to suicides over the issue as their lives were precious and the fight for Telangana would require their active participation.
