Kurnool, Jan 11: The arrested Senior Telugu Desam party leader and MLA of Prattikonda in Kurnool district, K E Prabhakar was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. Later he was granted conditional bail by the magistrate of Dhone court. The arrested MLA was later released.After being arrested in Kurnool in the wee hours on Monday, the MLA was shifted to the Dhone court and was produced before the magistrate. As reported earlier, the MLA was arrested on the charges of assaulting a Sub-Inspector of Police.
A case was filed against K E Prabhakr on the charges of assaulting a police official on duty during the Krishnagiri Single window elections. On hearing the news of his arrest, a large number of TDP supporters thronged his residence and protested against the pollice action. Following a scuffle between the police and the TDP supporters, tension prevailed at the MLA’s house in Kurnool.K E Prabhakar, reacting to his arrest, said the Government was trying to suppress him politically and has resorted to this kind of tactics.
``In an impulse, I assaulted the SI sometime back during the single window elections in Krishnagiri. But arresting me now, citing a past incident is illogical,’’ he added.It is learnt that cases were registered against K E Prabhakar for assaulting cooperative official Nagalingeswari on October 1, 2009.
