Kurnool, Jan 11: Senior Telugu Desam party leader and MLA of Prattikonda in Kurnool district, K E Prabhakar was arrested here on the charges of assaulting a Sub-Inspector of Police in the wee hours of Monday.A case was filed against K E Prabhakr on the charges of assaulting a police official on duty during the Krishnagiri Single window elections.The arrested MLA was shifted to Dhone. On hearing the news of his arrest, a large number of TDP supporters thronged his residence and protested against the pollice action.
Following a scuffle between the police and the TDP supporters, tension prevailed at the MLA’s house in Kurnool.K E Prabhakar, reacting to his arrest, said the Government was trying to suppress him politically and has resorted to this kind of tactics. ``In an impulse, I assaulted the SI sometime back during the single window elections in Krishnagiri. But arresting me now, citing a past incident is illogical,’’ he added.It is learnt that cases were registered against K E Prabhakar for assaulting cooperative official Nagalingeswari on October 1, 2009.
