Nagam demands CBI probe in Kalwakurthy project

BJP senior leader Nagam Janardhan Reddyy on Thursday demanded CBI probe into the execution of Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Project.

Addressing a press conference at State BJP office here, Nagam alleged that the project cost was increased from Rs. 2990 crore to Rs. 5072.73 crore only to receive kickbacks from the contractors. Similarly, the TRS Government has escalated of almost 33 different irrigation projects in Telangana State. He alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family were receiving favours while benefitting Andhra contractors.

Nagam also slammed the TRS Government for giving extension to Irrigation Department chief engineer Muralidhar Rao. He alleged that Muralidhar Rao was responsible for increasing the cost of projects in the name of re-designing. He pointed out that Muralidhar Rao was the Chief Engineer during previous Congress Government when Comptroller & Auditor General of India exposed Rs. 600 crore irrigation scam. Instead of removing a tainted official, he said that the TRS Government was giving him extension in service.
