Ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders on Saturday condemned the opposition parties for their stand against the land acquisition process for Mallanna Sagar project.
Speaking to media persons here, TRS MP D. Narsaiah Goud said that the Mallanna Sagar would irrigate about 10 lakh acres of land in four districts. However, he alleged that the Congress and TDP leaders were provoking the farmers only to stall the project. He said that the government proposes to construct the dam with a capacity of 50 TMC. He said about 5,434 families would be affected while 19,395 acres of land would be submerged.
Narsaiah Goud said that the TRS Government was paying adequate compensation to the outsees. He said compensation of Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 1.60 lakh per acre was paid to the affected farmers for projects constructed during Congress regimes.
Meanwhile, addressing a separate press conference, TRS MLC Karne Prabhakar said that the people would a fitting lesson to Congress and TDP for opposing the Mallanna Sagar project.
