The Telangana State has been witnessing a heavy increase in its revenue, said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in a review meeting with heads of 10 different departments.
According to KCR, the Telangana Government's revenues have registered an increase by 27.45% during the first two months of financial year 2016-17. The overall income from Sales Tax, Commercial Taxes, Excise, Transport, Registration, Stamps, Mines and others departments was Rs. 7,687 crore during April and May compared to Rs. 6031 in the corresponding period of 2015. Therefore, the revenues have increased by Rs. 1656 crore in the first two months.
The review meeting, held at the Chief Minister's camp office, was attened by senior officials including Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma. KCR said if the same pace of revenue continues, then Telangana's State-own-revenues would reach Rs. 11,500 crore.
KCR said despite facing a severe drought, Telangana State had registered an unprecedented growth rate. This was achieved primarily due to good governance, corruption-free administration and new industrial policy.
