All set for grand celebrations of Telangana Formation Day

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the grand celebrations of second anniversary of Telangana Formation Day on Thursday.

All government offices, historical places, heritage structures and major streets in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have been illuminated for the occasion. Similar arrangements have been made across the State up to village level. The State Government has already sanctioned Rs. 30 lakh for celebrations to each district. The occasion is also being celebrated at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi.

On Thursday at about 9.45 AM, the Chief Minister would pay floral tributes to martyrs of Telangana at Gun Park opposite Legislative Assembly building. He will then proceed to Lumbini Park where he will lay the foundation stone for construction of Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial at Lumbini Park.

KCR will then unfurl the India’s largest flag erected on the tallest flagpole at Sanjeevaiah Park. The 72 feet by 108 feet flag is made up of polyester and weighs around 92 KGs. The proposed height of the flagpole is 303 feet which is 10 feet more than the current tallest flagpole pole in Raipur of Chattisgarh. About Rs. 1.08 Crore has been spent on this flag.

Later, the Chief Minister will proceed to Parade Grounds in Secunderabad where he will unfurl the national flag, take salute of ceremonial parade by security forces and inspect tableaux show by various departments. After delivering his speech, the Chief Minister will distribute awards among eminent personalities.

A series of cultural programmes have been organised at different places in the city to mark the occasion.
