TRS dismisses Congress allegations on new districts

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi has dismissed the allegations of Congress party over formation of new districts.

Addressing a press conference at TRS Legislature Party office on Monday, TRS MLCs Karne Prabhakar and M. Srinivas Reddy said that the methodology being adopted for creation of new districts was totally scientific. They alleged that the Congress and TDP were just opposition the formation of new districts while hundreds of activists were staging dharnas demanding new districts. They said that the distance between some villages and District headquarters was 100-150 KM.

Citing instances, Prabhakar said that the distance between Chellur mandal and Adilabad was 145 KM. Similarly, the distance between Alairi and Nalgonda is about 125 KM. Likewise, people of Tandur need to travel about 110 KM to reach the Ranga Reddy District Collectorate in Hyderabad. He said that the new districts would reduce the radius of district headquarters to about 50 KM. He said common people were completely supporting the move. Further, he said that the implementation of welfare schemes would become easier with the creation of new and smaller districts.

The TRS leaders also dismissed the allegations that the State Government was giving away major projects to Seemandhra contractors. They said that the government was calling global tenders to execute the projects. Only eligible and experienced contractors, irrespective of their nativity, were being awarded the contracts, they said.

They advised the Congress leaders to stop criticising the TRS Government. They said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has already warned the opposition parties against making baseless criticism. They said that the TRS workers too would not tolerate any personal attacks on KCR or his family members.
