Warangal, Jan 2: Tension prevailed on the Kakatiya University campus after police shifted some agitating students into the hospital on Saturday.The students on indefinite hunger vowed to continue their fast till the Centre pronounces a clear stand on Telangana state at the Jan 5 all-party meeting convened by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
The students urged the Government to lift police cases foisted against them and sought permission to hold the Vidyarthi Garjana scheduled for January 3 at Osmania University Arts College.The ruling Congress party would be held responsible for the consequences, they warned.Protesting against the police intervention in their fast, the women students staged a rally on the campus and staged sit-in and launched a relay fast.
Sensing trouble, the police drafted additional reinforcements to maintain law and order. Protesting against the Government's move to break the indefinite fast launched by the students on the Kakatiya Varsity campus, the Joint Action Committe of students called upon all students to boycott their classes and observe bandh in Warangal district.
