Hyderabad, Jan 1: The Minister for Information Technology, Mr Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who resigned from the Cabinet to mount pressure on the Centre to take a decision in favour of separate Telangana, has received support from some strange quarters. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has thrown its weight behind the beleaguered minister.Mr Venkat Reddy, a senior Congress leader was the first Minister to quit Cabinet and he also resigned from the Assembly leading his ministerial colleagues to take a similar path.
And, 12 other ministers too followed suit and “resigned” to their posts. But on Thursday, Mr Reddy’s caustic remarks against the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, have attracted widespread criticism not only from his Cabinet colleagues and his party legislators but also from different sections of the society. He said Mr Rosaiah was functioning as the Chief Minister of Coastal Andhra and not as the head of the whole State. That the remarks coming at a time when the regional passions are at their peak have only added fuel to the fire.
Some of Mr Reddy’s Cabinet colleagues like the Minister for Agriculture, Mr N Raghuveera Reddy, termed him as a ‘betrayer’ while others chose to call him as a leader filled to the core with regional bias. (Mr Reddy hails from Telangana region). On Friday, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi saw some conspiracy to ease out Mr Reddy from the Cabinet.
