Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Wednesday accused the TRS Government of lacking clarity on irrigation projects.
Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here, Ponguleti alleged that the TRS leaders were receiving huge kickbacks and earning commissions in the name of re-designing and re-engineering of irrigation projects. He said that the State Government was planning to come out with a new irrigation policy without taking the opposition parties into confidence. He claimed that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has assured more than twice on the floor of Assembly that he would work by taking along everyone. However, not a single all-party meeting was held to seek the views of opposition parties on major issues, especially irrigation projects.
Ponguleti also asked the TRS leaders to furnish proofs of Congress leaders’ involvement in alleged irregularities in Jalayagnam projects. He said if there were irregularities in execution of irrigation projects during Congress regime, then why the same contractors were continued and paid huge sums by escalating the cost of the irrigation projects. He said instead of promoting contractors of Telangana, the TRS Government was encouraging the Seemandhra contractors.
The Congress MLC demanded that an all-party meeting be convened on irrigation projects before the budget session of Telangana Legislative Assembly.
