Having suffered a humiliating defeat in recently held GHMC elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party is planning to severe its ties with the Telugu Desam Party in Telangana State.
The issue was discussed during party's Core Committee meeting held on Thursday. According to sources, a majority of BJP leaders were of the view that the party did not perform well in GHMC elections due to its alliance with the TDP. Therefore, they suggested that BJP should not have any poll pact with the TDP in municipal elections in Greater Warangal, Khammam, Siddipet and Achampet.
Speaking to media persons later, BJP MLC N. Ramchander Rao admitted that a majority of party leaders were against having a tie-up with the TDP. However, he said a final decision in this regard would be taken after consulting local leaders.
