Centre's policy on T consistent: Chidambaram

New Delhi, Dec 31: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday dismissed media reports of the Centre ‘flip-flopping’ on the Telangana issue by saying that the Centre’s position on the issue was consistent. He said the Centre was simply acknowledging the political aspirations in its two statements made on Dec 9 and Dec 23.Chidambaram said the Jan 5 meeting of political parties from the state has been called to devise a "mechanism and roadmap" on resolving the imbroglio.

He added that Chief Minister K Rosaiah has been invited to the meeting.The Union Home Minister said the, "Jan 5 meeting is the first step in the consultations.  In the first step we have called the recognised parties in the state to devise a mechanism and a roadmap." He said he hoped the media would not term the Jan 5 meeting as another ‘flip-flop’ by the Centre.He implied that the Centre was open to the idea of involving more people beyond the eight recognised parties as and when the consultation process progresses.
