Hyderabad, Dec 30: Director General of Police RR Girish Kumar on Wednesday, said the police was examining all aspects of complaints against former Governor ND Tiwari and is seeking legal opinion on how to proceed further in the case.Replying to questions by media persons over the issue here, Girish Kumar said the 86-year-old former governor resigned on Saturday, citing ‘ill health’ after the ABN-Andhra Jyothi television channel aired footage of a man with three women indulging in sexual activities. The television channel claimed that the man in the footage was Mr Tiwari, who however, denied any wrong doings on his part.
Women activists lodged complaints against the former Governor seeking prosecution on charges of immoral trafficking and molestation of women, but no case has been registered yet.An advocate has also lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police B Prasada Rao over the issue, a copy of which has been sent to the DGP. The complaint sought the booking of a case against Mr Tiwari under Sections 6 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Section 354 (molestation) and Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code. The advocate argued in his complaint that after his resignation, Mr Tiwari no longer enjoys Constitutional immunity and urged the police to book a case against him.
