Pro-T MPs threaten to resign

New Delhi,Dec 22: Even as the fasts and agitations against the proposed bifurcation of the state continue well into the second week since the Centre declared its willingness to start the bifurcation process, rumours are afloat of a letter by MPs belonging to the Telangana region addressed to the Prime Minister and the UPA chairperson highlighting the consequences if the Centre goes back on the decision.According to credible sources, the Members of Parliament from Telangana region have made it clear that they would resign from Parliament and join the separate Telangana movement if there is any dilution of the Centre’s announced stand on the issue.

Claiming that any dilution will have serious ‘repercussions’,the Telangana MPs have alleged that the ongoing agitations and protests in Coastal Andhra and Rayalseema regions are being ‘orchestrated’ by people with ‘vested’ interests and the land mafia. The letter is also believed to state that the protests are not the true voice of the people as these ‘vested’ interest are financing these ‘protests’.The MPs from Telangana region who had been silent since the announcement by the Centre to begin the process of creation of a separate Telangana state also stated in the letter that Congress workers and leaders from the Telangana region are very disciplined and never protested against the party and they will abide by the party decision.

It is also believed that the letter alleges that the Gali brothers who own large mines in Anantapur district are behind the anti-Telangana protests in Anantapur district and other influential Congress leaders behind the protests in other parts of Coastal Andhra and Rayalseema regions.
