Vijayawada,Dec 16: Vijayawada Member of Parliament Lagadapati Rajagopal has flayed the police for imposing Section 144 of the CrPC for a week in the city.Lagadapati asked the police against adopting provocative tactics and suggested that they exercise restraint as the Congress workers were agitating peacefully without resorting to violence.He said there was absolutely no reason to clamp Section 144 as there was no untoward incident in the city or in the district. He said he clearly saw foulplay behind the police move.
Rajagopal also vowed to continue his fast till his demand for a united Andhra Pradesh was achieved.Meanwhile, as the agitation for a united Andhra Pradesh was gaining ground, the police force was deployed on a large scale. Checkposts were set up at various places to screen the strangers.Since the students are also participating in the agitation as their colleges have been closed, the police wanted to take no chances and more APSP battallions would be requisitioned to maintain law and order in the city.
