The death toll due to devastating cyclone 'Hudhud' that hit the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 12 has increased to 35.
According to the latest report released by the Andhra Pradesh Government on Wednesday, while 26 deaths have already been confirmed, it is yet to get confirmation of death of nine more persons from the affected districts. The deceased include 16 men, nine women and one child. A total of 43 people, including 12 women suffered injuries due to cyclone-related incidents. A total of 8,742 animals were also killed due to cyclone and its aftermath.
Nearly 248,004 people or about 60,000 families in 320 villages are affected due to cyclone. At least 7,806 houses were also damaged.
Agricultural crops spread across 183,128 Hectares, roads of 2250 KMs, six bridges, 86 water supply systems, 9 sewerage systems, 8301 electric poles, 17 primary schools, two secondary schools, 23 community centres and over 140 shops and other commercial buildings were also damaged due to cyclone.
