Mantralayam, Dec 2: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday promised to release Rs 10 crore for the renovation of Guru Raghavendra Swamy temple here. The temple was submerged in the flood waters recently.Talking to media persons, the Chief Minister, who came here to lay the foundation stone for many development works taken up with the assistance of Karnataka government, announced that his government would extend full support for the temple development.
The flood waters of Tungabhadra, a tributary of the river Krishna, had submerged Mantralayam and 20 priests, 8,000 devotees and 10,000 locals left to safety. Minister for Women and Child Welfare Shilpa Mohan Reddy, Minister for Primary Education Manikya Vara Prasad and Minister for Endowments Gade Venkat Reddy also accompanied the Karnataka Chief Minister.
