Andhra Pradesh to get 11 institutions of higher education: Ganta

Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao on Wednesday informed that as many as 11 institutions of higher education would be set up across the residuary State.

Speaking to media persons after assuming charge in the State Secretariat here, the minister said that the institutions to be established in Andhra Pradesh include National Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Management Sciences, Institute of Medical Sciences, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Central University and Agriculture University. He said these institutions would be set up in Visakhapatnam, Krishna, Guntur and Chittoor (Tirupati) districts. Institutions related to Petroleum Industries will be set up in Kakinada while Vizag will be hub of Medical education, he said.

Ganta said that the process of acquisition of land for different has been initiated. He said IIMS will be established on 12 acres, IIIT on 100 acres, IMS on 300 acres (Krishna-Guntur), Agriculture University on 500 acres, National Disaster Management Institute on 10 acres, Central University on 300 acres in Tirupati, IIMS on 200 acres of land.

Speaking about fee reimbursement scheme, the minister said that the Telangana Government did not came out with clarity on the scheme and only said that the scheme would be extended only to Telangana students. However, he said that the Andhra Pradesh Government would conduct an all-party meeting on the issue after the ensuing Assembly session.
