Union Minister JD Seelam on Friday expressed confidence that the Centre would grant Union Territory status to Hyderabad in case of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana.
Speaking to media persons here, he said that granting UT status for Hyderabad was necessary as the future of Seemandhra students was directly related to the State capital. Further, he proposed that Hyderabad should be made joint capital of both the States for at least 20 years. He said that the union ministers from Seemandhra had briefed AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh about the concerns of Seemandhra people with regard to State's bifurcation. He said that they have assured to do justice with the people of Seemandhra in case of division of the State.
