Appealing to the national and regional parties to stand up against the injustice being done to Andhra Pradesh at this crucial juncture where the Centre is trying to undemocratically table a Bill that was rejected by the State Assembly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that his Party has a strong presence in Telangana and will pick up seats from that region as well.
Speaking to a national channel, he said: “our strategy in Parliament is to protest at the podium and not allow the State Reorganisation Bill to be moved and this is the time for all democratic forces to stand up and vote against it. The lobbying for mobilizing opinion against the Bill will continue.”
Giving a clear definition of Samaikyandhra, he said, “When we say Samaikyandhra it is not just Seemandhra but we are for the welfare of all the regions including Telangana. We have a good presence there and will pick up at least five of 17 Lok Sabha seats in the region. I will also tour the region with the Samaikyandhra slogan.’
The Kadapa MP, who has given a letter to Speaker Meira Kumar that his Party strongly opposes the tabling of a Bill that was rejected by the State assembly is morally not proper, said that such a thing is happening for the first time in the country.
Undeterred by the rejection, the Central Government is going ahead with the division process and we will be in the podium to stall the proceedings and also appeal to other parties to join us in the fight against such gross injustice as it shows the authoritarian and dictatorial attitude of the Government.
Jagan Mohan Reddy, who will be meeting the President tomorrow seeking his intervention to stall the division process, and requesting him not to send the Bill to the Parliament. When asked which Party will he support post-elections, he said, “that is immaterial. Whichever party favours an integrated state will get our support.” When asked about the hectic business schedule of the House he said that they will oppose the Bill tooth and nail.
