Govt to hand over the OMC issue to the CBI

Hyderabad,Nov 17: Making an effort to come out with clean hands in the Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC) issue, the Andhra Pradesh Government on Tuesday decided to approach the Union Government to direct the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)to probe the alleged 'irregularities in OMC mining operations.Keeping an eye on the ensuing Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, the Government would like to maintain a clean slate before it goes to electorate asking for their votes.

It is understood that the Government does not want to give any room for the opposition parties to politicize the issue of Obulapuram mines which will have an impact on the party’s performance in the civic polls. As reported earlier the Government in the last week constituted a three-member panel to hold an inquiry into the mining irregularities of OMC.The panel is supposed to submit  its  report to the Government sometime during  this week
