JC hails CM's courage in opposing Congress HC

Former Minister JC Diwakar Reddy on Monday praised Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for his courage to counter the Congress High Command on the issue of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to media persons in the Assembly premises here, Diwakar Reddy said that the Chief Minister was effectively handling the bifurcation issue and even went to the extent of opposing the party High Command's decision. He said no other Congress Chief Minister in the country would dare to do what Kiran Kumar Reddy did on Telangana issue. He also praised the Chief Minister for effectively running the State for the last three years.

Diwakar Reddy said that the Congress party was weak when Kiran Kumar Reddy assumed charge three years. However, he strengthened the party at levels and the victory of Congress party in Panchayat Raj elections was a proof for the same. However, he said that the Congress party received setbacks in the State due to Telangana issue.

Speaking about Rayala-Telangana, Diwakar Reddy said that the proposal was actively being discussed in political circles and several leaders were in favour although they were not expressing it due to political compulsions. He said he would discuss the proposal when the Telangana Bill is tabled in the Legislative Assembly. He condemned the Intelligence Bureau for calling up leaders over phone to seek their views on Rayala-Telangana.

Diwakar Reddy sarcastically said that the final decision on keeping the State united, Telangana or Rayala-Telangana would be taken by "Amma" while referring to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
