APNGOs boycott talks with Cabinet Sub-Committee

The APNGOs Union on Monday refused to participate in talks with the State Government to end their 56-day long strike in protest against bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana.

APNGOs president Ashok Babu said that the demands of striking employees could not be met at Cabinet Sub-Committee level. Therefore, the APNGOs and other unions on strike have refused to hold negotiations with the Cabinet Sub-Committee.  They are demanding that the Centre withdraw its decision to bifurcate the State.

It may be mentioned that nearly 4 lakh employees affiliated with the APNGOs and other unions went on indefinite strike since August 12 midnight in protest against the proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to create Telangana. The strike has brought the administration in the entire State, especially in 13 districts of coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema region, to a halt.
