Ajit meets Naidu, RLD to support TDP on Obulapuram Mines issue

Hyderabad,Nov 14:The Telugu Desam Party (TDP),a regional political outfit in Andhra Pradesh,is understood to be keen on taking the Obulapuram Mines issue to the national level. And, as part of its strategy, the TDP is enlisting the support of national parties. On Saturday, the TDP president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, invited the president of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and former Union minister, Mr Ajit Singh,to his house. Both the leaders were closeted for over an hour at Mr Naidu’s residence in the posh Jubilee Hills area of the city.

Coming out of the meeting, Mr Naidu said that he had sought the support of Mr Ajit Singh in taking the Obulapuram mines issue to the national level.“Mr Gali Janardhan Reddy, who owns the Obulapuram mines, has blatantly violated al the norms in not only getting the lease for mining in Ananthpur district but also for the setting up of the Brahmani Steels  in Kadapa district, the home district of the former chief minister, the late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy,” Mr Naidu said. The TDP president felt that the Sate Government is under heavy pressure from the mining mafia not to cat against their interests and thus the TDP is planning to take the matter to the national level.

“I have sought the cooperation of Mr Ajit Singh in waging a battle against the misdeeds of the Obulapuram mines for which he has agreed,” the TDP supremo added. The mining mafia has already polluted the political atmosphere in the neighboring Karnataka and is now out to ruin the scenario in Andhra Pradesh too, he said adding that this got to be stopped forthwith. “The mining mafia is using both money and muscle power to destroy the State,” he remarked.Mr Ajit Singh said that he had sought the support of the TDP to oppose the proposed ordinance on control of essential commodities. “Mr Naidu has positively responded to our request and agreed to take part in the dharna to be staged before the Parliament House opposing the proposed ordinance. Well all together will oppose the ordinance that is detrimental to the interests of the common man,” he said.
