The Supreme court on Friday had ordered for a CBI probe on Andhra Pradesh DGP Dinesh Redddy in response to the petition filed by IPS Umesh kumar.
Umesh Kumar filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking for an investigation into the properties and assets acquired by Dinesh Reddy and his wife Kamala Reddy and other relatives.
The war between Dinesh Redy and Umesh Kumar has been going on with a battle of allegations and counter-allegations ever since Dinesh Reddy was appointed DGP.
It might be mentioned here that when the vacancy arose for the post of DGP in Andhra Pradesh both Umesh Kumar, who was at that time serving as the State’s Home Secretary, and Dinesh Reddy vied with each other to secure the top job. However, Umesh Kumar missed the bus with the state government appointing Dinesh Reddy as the new DGP of the state.
Umesh Kumar also filed a petition in the Court seeking directions against probing forgery allegations leveled against him by Dinesh Reddy.
The Supreme Court in its direction today also said any objections of both the IPS officers could be resolved in the trial court.
