Telangana movement will continue: Kodandaram

The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on Thursday announced that its struggle would continue till the formation of Telangana State.

Addressing the second round table conference in the national capital, TPJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram said that the Telangana movement would neither be stopped nor its pitch would be reduced till the Centre grants statehood to the region. He said that the Telangana issue should not be treated as an economic problem, but as a political issue.

Kodandaram also alleged that the revenues from Telangana region were being diverted to Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.

The TPJAC chairman also slammed the Congress-led UPA Government for going back on its promise of formation of Telangana. He recalled the sequence of events that led to the formation of Joint Action Committee on December 24, 2009. He said that the TPJAC is a representative body of all pro-Telangana organisations.

Besides K Keshava Rao, Dr G Vivek (TRS), Bandaru Dattatreyya (BJP) and Aziz Pasha (CPI), the representatives of different political parties, who are in favour of smaller states, including RLD, Janata Party, Aam Admi, Socialist Party, Bodo Land, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, CPM (New Democracy) and Jammu & Kashmir Panthers Party participated in the Round Table Conference.
