The YSR Congress party on Tuesday appealed to the State Government to revive the Brahmani Steels project.
Talking to reporters at the Assembly media point here, YSRCP MLAs K Srinivasulu and B Srikanth Reddy said that the project was at the initial stage of inception when the government cancelled the land allotted for the project. Sophisticated machinery worth nearly Rs 1,300 crore was imported from China besides taking other measures.
Srinivasulu said that the project could bring employment for nearly two lakh people, including direct employment for nearly one lakh youth. He said that the Brahmani Steels could have brought development in the Rayalaseema region.
The YSRCP MLAs suggested that Chief Minsiter N Kiran Kumar Reddy could re-start the project by naming it after Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi or even himself in the interest of the region. They said that although Kiran Kumar Reddy himself hails from Rayalaseema region, he was not serious about region's development and therefore, scrapped the Brahmani Steels project.
