Permit "Chalo Assembly" or face consequences, warns TRS

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Tuesday warned the State Government of serious consequences if it fails to permit the peaceful conduct of "Chalo Assembly" rally proposed to be held on June 14.

Talking to reporters at the Assembly's media point, TRS Deputy Floor leader T Harish Rao said that the TRS and other pro-Telangana outfits always held peaceful agitations in the past. Therefore, denial of permission for the proposed "Chalo Assembly" rally fearing violence was ridiculous. He said the TPJAC and TRS wants to submit a memorandum to the government by taking out a rally to the Assembly. However, by denying peaceful protest, the government was trying to provoke Telangana sentiments.

Harish Rao said that the TRS would ensure the peaceful conduct of Chalo Assembly rally if the government permits the same. However, he alleged that the Congress Government was trying to suppress the Telangana voice by not permitting peaceful agitations.

The TRS MLA demanded that the Congress ministers and MLAs from the region prevail upon Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to permit the Chalo Assembly rally. He said when a group of TRS, BJP and CPI MLAs met the Chief Minister seeking rally's permission, he left the decision to the Hyderabad City Police. He said by doing so, the Chief Minister was trying to flee away from his responsibilities.

Harish Rao warned that the Chief Minister himself would be responsible for the consequences that would arise if the Chalo Assembly rally was not permitted.

The TRS leader also condemned TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for not paying homage to Telangana martyrs. Referring to Naidu's dharna at Gun Park on Bayyaram issue on Tuesday, he said Naidu did not pay homage to Telangana martyrs although he has repeatedly claimed that he was in favour of separate Telangana.
