Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have announced that they were against the celebration of Valentine’s Day even as efforts are on by Human Rights activists to keep a vigil on the probable attacks.
Lovers seen outside will be taken to their parents and they would be given counseling, the two oraganisations have announced. The hardcore Hindu organizations are opposed to the celebration of Valentine’s Day, which they say is not an Indian tradition.
Meanwhile, State Human Rights Commission has asked the police commissioner to provide security in wake of the threats from VHP and Bajrang Dal. The SHRC request to the Commissioner comes in wake of a complaint filed by a lawyer who said that VHP and Bajrang Dal have threatened to marry off lovers seen in public places.
