Sonia discusses T issue with Kiran

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday reportedly discussed with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy some concrete options to resolve the Telangana issue.

Both the leaders are learnt to have discussed the possible outcome in case the Centre decides to announce its decision on Telangana. During the meeting that lasted for about 45 minutes, Kiran Kumar Reddy has apprised the party chief with the prevailing political situation in the State. He also submitted a report on party's performance in the cooperative elections.

Sources say that Sonia Gandhi also enquired about the recent expulsion of nine MLAs from the party and its possible impact on the Government. Kiran Kumar Reddy has reportedly assured Sonia that he would handle the situation and there would be no threat to the continuance of his government. He also denied having differences with PCC president Bosta Satyanarayana and other leaders.

However, Kiran Kumar Reddy failed to get Sonia's nod to fill the nominated posts.

After meeting Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Congress president also had a meeting with Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde over the Telangana issue.

Prior to his meeting with Sonia Gandhi, the Chief Minister had a meeting with Union Health Minister and AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad for about half-an-hour. However, sources say that Kiran Kumar Reddy was rebuked by Azad for mishandling the issues of MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and former minister Dr P Shankar Rao.

It may be mentioned that the Congress High Command has also summoned PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday to discuss Telangana and other issues.
