New Delhi,Oct 31: Y S Jaganmohan Reddy,the Kadapa MP from Andhra Pradesh figured prominently among the top taxpayers in the country according to Incometax sources here on Saturday.The top slot in the country among the taxpayers list is decorated by Lalit Modi, the cricket administrator.The Chairman and Commissioner of Indian Premier League, Modi had already paid Rs 8 crore in the first half of this fiscal, four times that of Dhoni and more than five times that of Tendulkar. Surprisingly,Modi had paid only Rs 32 lakh tax in all of 2008-09.Jaganmohan Reddy the business tycoon and politician,who paid just Rs 2.92 lakh tax for the entire financial year 2008-09, has paid Rs 6.6 crore advance tax in the first six months of this year, projecting a tax outgo of at least Rs 22 crore with his personal income expected to cross Rs 70 crore in 2009-10.
Much to his credit Jagan is the only politician who figured among the top 100 taxpayers n the country.In the cricket crazy field, Master blaster Sachin tendulkar tops the list. He paid Rs 8 crore last year and Rs 1.5 crore in the first half of this fiscal year. Skipper of the Indian tem M S Dhoni stands second, having paid Rs 4.6 crore last year and Rs 2 crore till September '09 and is likely to beat Sachin by the end of this financial year.
