T-DCC chiefs asks Botsa to support Telangana

The Presidents of Telangana District Congress Committees have asked the party High Command to support the formation of Telangana during the All Party meeting being held in New Delhi on December 28.

Presidents of seven DCCs met Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday and requested him to ensure that the Congress representatives speak in favour of statehood for the region during the All Party meeting.

"We, the DCC presidents form the Telangana districts have been under tremendous pressure from Telangana protagonists in particular and people in general as regards the delivery of separate statehood for Telangana. They are very angry at the attitude of the party leadership for convening the all party meeting without making its stand clear first on Telangana," they said in a joint memorandum given to Botsa.

They said hundreds of youth in the Telangana region have sacrificed their precious lives for the cause of the separate State. "The supreme sacrifices have not come to an end and still many a youth keep taking their lives day in and day out. This tendency continues unabated after the reversal of the December 9 decision on December 23 bowing to the pressure from Seemandhra leaders," they said.

Talking to reporters later, Adilabad DCC president C Ramchandra Reddy said that due to the delay in taking decision on the statehood issue, people in the region were under the strong impression that Congress was against Telangana. Further, people are also of the opinion that Congress has been deceiving the people of Telangana every time after every election. "It is high time for the party to declare Telangana State for the survival of the party and also the cadre," he demanded.

The Telangana DCC presidents also suggested that Ramchandra Reddy be sent as one of the representatives for the All-Party meeting.

DCC presidents V Bhoopal Reddy (Warangal), G Gangadhar (Nizamabad), Obaidullah Kotwal (Mahabubnagar) and others were also present.
