AP's political action shifts to Delhi

The scene has shifted to Delhi, so is the heat. It is not just one but a multitude of issues.

Governor ESLNarasimhan, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana are in Delhi indicating that decisions, tough or otherwise, will be taken.

The All Party meeting must be high on agenda as pressure is mounting on Congress to spell its stand on Telangana though Congress is trying to give it a colour of taking the opinion of political parties and arriving at a consensus on the contentious issue.

Next, is the issue of Dharmana Prasada Rao prosecution which is delicate as the CBI is standing on a strong legal ground and the cabinet is facing dissent from within.  A divided cabinet, weak Chief Minister who does not enjoy the support of his party members and the sharp rivalry between the Party boss and the Government head stands as a stumbling block with one year to go for the election.

Though there is assurance from the highest echelons of Congress party that Chief Minister will not be shifted, there core committee is burning midnight oil to work out a face saving plan and a compromise formula.

Should Dharmana be prosecuted the edifice of Congress cabinet is likely to crumble and if the decision is otherwise, the party has to face a torrent of criticism from within and without.

The law and order situation in wake of the December 28 all party meeting is the other aspect which would be looked into and the growing dissent in Seemandhra region raising the pitch for an integrated state is the other dimension to the issue.

With the top law makers of the State camping in Delhi the outcome cannot be disappointing but it could be diplomatic and time buying if not time consuming.
