BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday neither denied nor confirmed that he was in the race for the post of party's national President.
Addressing a press conference here, Venkaiah Naidu said that although he was not aspiring for any post, he would accept any responsibility given by the party. However, he said that the BJP was in favour of promoting the young leadership. He said he felt honoured after he was made the Party president earlier.
It may be mentioned that the term of Nitin Gadkari, who took over as party president on December 19, 2009, has been cleared to lead the party till January 2013. Following charges of corruption against Gadkari, the party is likely to elect a new national president next month.
Speaking about Gujarat election results, Venkaih Naidu said that Narendra Modi was able to defeat not only the Congress party, but its larger conspiracies hatched on the basis of money and political power. He said that unlike Congress party, which is refusing to accept humiliating defeat in Gujarat, the BJP full-heartedly accepts the people's verdict in Himachal Pradesh.
Venkaiah Naidu said that the Gujarat results were an indication of the political scenario after 2104 elections where BJP would emerge victorious.
