Devender Goud justifies skipping FDI voting

Senior TDP MP T Devender Goud on Saturday dismissed the allegations being leveled against the three TDP MPs with regard to the voting on Foreign Direct Investment in Rajya Sabha.

Talking to reporters after holding a meeting with the Rangareddy District TDP party members over the issue, Devender Goud said that the TDP MPs walked out of the Parliament only after intimating the party leaders. However, he alleged that they were now being isolated for doing so.

Justifying the walkout from the Rajya Sabha, he said that their votes would have had no impact on the voting process, as the Bahujan Samaj Party was voting in favour of the Congress-led UPA Government. The issue was thoroughly discussed with party leaders and since the statistics were clearly in favour of UPA, it has been decided not to participate in the voting process.

Further, Devender Goud said that he was unwell and wanted to return to Hyderabad to see the doctors. He said if he would have anticipated these reactions, then he would certainly stayed in the House to vote against the government. However, he said his intentions should be questioned in this regard.

It may be mentioned that of five TDP MPs in the upper house, Devender Goud, Sujana Choudhary and G Sudha Rani did not take part in the voting although they attended the House on Friday.
