Telangana Nagara Bheri chairman and Nagarkurnool MLA Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Monday appealed to the people, especially the youth, not to end their lives for the cause of Telangana.
Speaking after launching the “Telangana Bharosa yatra” at Achampet in the district, Nagam said that the youth should participate in the statehood agitation without losing their hearts. Recalling that over 1,000 youth have committed suicide for the statehood cause, he said that suicides would stop immediately after the formation of Telangana State. He said he was undertaking the yatra to convey a message that Telangana youth were not alone in their struggle.
Nagam called upon the Telangana Congress MPs and ministers to mount pressure on the Congress High Command for a favourable and early decision on Telangana. However, he warned that the Congress party would be wiped out from the region if it failed to grant statehood for the region.
Earlier, Nagam performed puja at Umamaheshwara Swamy temple in Achampet.
Telangana Political JAC Chairman Prof M Kodandaram and BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreyya also participated in the Telangana Bharosa Yatra and announced their support.
During the 11-day Yatra, Nagam would be addressing over 80 meetings and extensively interact with the people across the 10 Telangana districts.
