Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday announced that the Telangana agitation would be transformed into a major political force in the next elections.
Addressing the "Samarabheri", a massive public meeting, here, TRS chief said that the Telangana could be achieved by sustained struggle and a strong political force. He said while the TRS would support all agitation programmes to be organised by Telangana Political Joint Action Committee, it would also emerge as a major political power in the region.
Accusing the Congress, Telugu Desam and YSR Congress parties of cheating the people of the region, he described all those parties as pro-Andhra parties. "We don't need Andhra parties and leaders in our Telangana region," he said while appealing the people to boycott all those parties.
KCR also announced that after its formation, as many as 24 districts would be created in the Telangana State. Further, he said Suryapet will be one of those proposed districts.
Claiming that nearly one crore acre could be brought under cultivation if Telangana State is formed, the TRS chief said that people should support the statehood movement if they wish to solve all their problems. He alleged that Seemandhra region was given priority in the Jalayagnam scheme of construction of irrigation projects. He listed out several projects including Pranahita-Chevella which are pending for the last several years.
KCR recalled that he was invited to New Delhi by the Congress leaders to hold talks on the Telangana issue. They laid a condition that TRS be merged with the Congress party when Telangana is formed. He said while putting the careers of several leaders at stake, he has agreed to accept all the conditions for the sake of Telangana. However, he said Congress party cheated the people on the issue and did not announce formation of Telangana.
Ridiculing the slogans of "Chandranna Rajyam" and "Rajanna Rajyam", he said people have seen both the Rajyams and this time they would opt for only "Telangana Rajyam". He accused the successive governments for causing damage to the Wakf properties in the State. He said during YSR's regime a prime Wakf land in Hyderabad was given to Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal. Similarly, properties worth several crores of rupees have been encroached upon by the Seemandhra leaders, he alleged.
KCR said that the TRS would continue its agitation till it achieves the statehood for Telangana region.
