Rosaiah gets into serious business

Hyderabad,Oct 28: With the virtual irritants on the path of his accession to the top post having been removed and a feeling of comfort in place in the saddle after clear indications of bliss from the Congress High Command, the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, has now got into serious business.Having set his priorities broad and clear, Mr Rosaiah is now a cool-headed strategist right before the Twin Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad get geared up for another hustings. While the Congress cadres down the line are looking up to him for leadership as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections are round the corner, the Chief Minister on Wednesday went round the twin cities taking every note of the immediate civic requirements of the citizenry and also passing instant orders to the officials wherever  and whenever necessary.

During his whirlwind tour, he did not even miss an opportunity to attend day-to-day welfare programmes.Mr Rosaiah, however, made it a point to mention the name of the late Dr Rajasekhara Reddy whom he succeeded, as he delivered speeches during his day-long visit of the twin cities. He attempted to recall the late leaders’ all-round contribution to the progress of the State, particularly the industrial sector. Not only did the Chief Minister bless the newly-wedded couples at the Kalyanamasthu (Mass Marriages) programme organized by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), he also laid the foundation for a housing colony at East Maredpalli in Secunderabad.Although the top echelons of the bureaucracy has been callous or negligent of the security aspect of Mr Rosaiah, this time the city police top brass took every care to tighten the security for the Chief Minister at every vulnerable point in the city.

The elaborate security beef-up for the Chief Minister in the city was meticulously drafted unlike the haphazard and shoddy coverage they extended to Rosaiah while he was on a tour of the flood-ravaged districts of Kurnool, Krishna and Mehboobnagar among others. The floods followed the political unrest after YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s untimely death which left a void in the political firmament over Andhra Pradesh. It was a question of assertion and astute statesmanship Rosaiah confronted at a time when a section of his party were closely behind a move to saddle Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy in the chair vacated by his father in a mishap on a stormy day, on September 2 last. Now that Rosaiah has the benediction of the party’s supremo in Delhi, he can look forward to constructive governance and stable leadership.
