CM's post for Telangana leader will intensify agitation: Komatireddy

Former minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy on Thursday said that the Telangana movement would be intensified further, if Chief Minister's post was given to any Telangana leader.

Talking to reporters after meeting Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy requesting release of water from Nagarjunasagar to Nalgonda district, the former minister said that the replacement of Chief Minister with a leader from Telangana region would further incite the regional feelings. He warned that the Congress party would not be able to win a single seat in the region if it fails to take an early decision on Telangana statehood.

Komatireddy said that all leaders from the region should keep aside their "jhanda" (flag) and agenda to achieve statehood for the region. However, he alleged that the Telangana ministers were trying to delay the issue till 2014. Criticising the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, he said that the TRS should focus on statehood agitation instead of preparing for mid-term elections or strengthening the party.
