Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday promised that houses would be constructed for the poor with a cost of Rs 1 lakh each if his party returns to power in next elections.
Addressing a meeting at Chintarevullapalli during his seventh day of "Vastunna Mee Kosam" padayatra in Mahabubnagar district, Naidu said that housing for poor would be one of the top priorities of the TDP Government. He also assured that concerte steps would be taken to address the drinking water needs of Mahabubnagar district.
Meanwhile, Naidu had a tough time convincing a large number of women who came to the venue at Gadwal with empty pots in protest against the shortage of drinking water in their localities. The women alleged that injustice was done to them during the TDP's regime. However, Naidu asked the women to register their protest with the Congress leaders. He told them that he was conducting the padayatra to understand their problems and he could not solve them.
The TDP chief assured the women that the drinking water would be solved through NTR Swajala scheme when his party returns to power.
